Closing Session


The Closing Session began with remarks from NC Representative Dale Folwell. He shared with conference participants educational successes from the previous session of the NC General Assembly.





Almetta Armstrong, Montgomery County, thanked participants for their support during her presidency. The audience gave her a standing ovation in recognition of her tireless efforts to promote education throughout the state and country.





Kenneth Lanier, Pender County, received the president's gavel. Mr. Lanier also presents President Armstrong with her president's gavel. During his remarks, he urged participants to engage their local communities to support public education.





Kenston Griffin motivated the audience with his powerful and inspirational message.

Gubernatorial Debate

A first for the association - NCSBA hosted an educational debate for the state's gubernatorial candidates! NCSBA appreciates the partnership with WFMY News 2 in Greensboro for working with us to ensure the success of our debates. School Solutions Reporter Erica Taylor from WFMY served as moderator. Candidates were asked a series of questions related to educational issues in North Carolina.

Third General Session

The Richmond County Senior High Show Choir gave a stunning performance during the lunch!

General session speakers included NC Rep. Rick Glazier who focused comments on the upcoming legislative session and the importance of individual board member contact with their legislative delegation.

NSBA President Norm Wooten joined us from Kodiak, Alaska and spoke on community involvement.
